Crushing and Recycling – A Sustainable Resin Base in South Devon

At Done Right Driveways, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the quality and sustainability of our work. The latest step forward is the introduction of on-site crushing, a method that allows us to recycle clean waste materials directly into new sub-bases for resin driveways. This is a significant development for both our business and our customers, reflecting our ongoing commitment to sustainability at Done Right Driveways.

How On-Site Crushing Works

Recently, we trialled a hired crusher to see how it could transform waste materials from excavation into usable aggregate. The machine works by pressing material between two adjustable plates, breaking it down into consistent sizes, for example 40mm aggregate. By carefully sorting the input, we only feed in clean materials such as concrete, tarmac, and brick paving, free from soil or mud. The result is a high-quality recycled stone that can be used immediately in sub-bases, including those required for the latest VUBA Resin Driveways.

Reducing Waste and Protecting the Environment

This approach brings clear environmental benefits. Traditionally, excavated materials would be removed from site and sent to landfill, with new quarried stone brought in as replacement. Crushing on site means less waste leaving the project, fewer lorry journeys, and reduced reliance on quarrying. It is an environmentally responsible approach that supports our goal of cutting the carbon footprint of resin driveway installations across South Devon, from Plymouth and Ivybridge to Salcombe, Modbury, Plympton, and Kingsbridge.

Sustainable Strength for Resin Driveways

The recycled aggregate we produce through crushing is more than just eco-friendly. When properly sorted and compacted, it provides a strong and reliable base for resin-bound surfaces. Combined with systems such as fibre reinforced concrete or VUBA Mac, this ensures every driveway we build is not only long-lasting but also built with sustainability in mind.

Leading the Way in Sustainable Practices

For us, this is about more than just process efficiency. On-site crushing represents a serious step forward in how resin driveways are installed. It demonstrates our commitment to innovation, waste reduction, and sustainable construction methods. Customers choosing Done Right Driveways can be confident they are not only investing in a high-quality driveway but also supporting a greener, more sustainable future. At the heart of sustainability at Done Right Driveways is the idea that progress and responsibility go hand in hand. By recycling waste into strength, we are helping to shape a better way of building resin driveways in South Devon.
